The head of the UK’s statistics agency has blamed budget cuts and the spread of video doorbells for a crisis around the quality of its data.
Ian Diamond, the National Statistician, called for more funding to improve the Office for National Statistics’ surveys, some of which have suffered a collapse in response rates.
