UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer supports Denmark’s sovereignty over Greenland, his spokesman said, after President Donald Trump reiterated his intention to obtain the Arctic island for the US.

“Of course; Greenland is part of Denmark,” Dave Pares said when asked by reporters if the British premier respects Danish sovereignty over the territory. It is the first time Starmer’s government has given its public backing to Denmark in the ongoing diplomatic crisis between NATO allies.
