Thousands of people are fleeing the Greek island of Santorini as increased seismic activity spurs fears of a more powerful earthquake at the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history.

Crowds are waiting to board ferries to leave the iconic Greek island that attracts millions of tourists every year. Aegean Airlines added five extra flights from Santorini to Athens on Monday, and it plans to double its usual service to eight flights on Tuesday. Over the two days, the airline will fly as many as 2,700 people off the island.
