Greek Premier Calls for a €100 Billion EU Fund for Defense
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called for at least €100 billion ($102 billion) in common European Union spending for defense, joining a growing number of capitals that want the bloc to take more responsibility for its own security.
He proposed the joint instrument in an opinion piece in the Financial Times. The EU is currently preparing a new defense strategy and the bloc’s leaders are due to meet informally Monday in Brussels to provide input.
