The Trump administration is poised to oust Biden-era appointee Rohit Chopra as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and is considering either the Treasury Department or the White House Office of Management and Budget to oversee the agency, according to people familiar with the matter.

The move could come soon amid a long-held Republican bid to overhaul the agency. Scott Bessent was confirmed earlier this week as Treasury chief, while Russ Vought is awaiting Senate confirmation to oversee OMB.
