For nearly 11 years, Aleksandar Vucic has consolidated power in Serbia and engaged in a geopolitical balancing act that once made him close to Vladimir Putin and now to allies in Europe and Donald Trump.
As he’s facing one of the biggest protests to date — escalated by a roof collapse at a railway station that killed 15 people — Vucic announced plans to reshuffle his cabinet. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Milos Vucevic — a close ally — announced his resignation, effectively bringing down the whole government.
