South Sudan Shuts Social Media After Riots Over Sudan Violence

South Sudan directed internet service providers to block all social media platforms following violent protests over the mistreatment of its citizens in neighboring Sudan.
The order was “effective from the midnight of Jan. 22 for a maximum of 90 days,” according to a statement issued by Napoleon Adok Gai, director general of the National Communication Authority.
