Veteran lawmaker and former economy minister Yassine Jaber has emerged as a frontrunner for the job of Lebanon’s next finance minister, a key post as the country seeks to reform its economy and complete a long-delayed debt restructuring.

Officials have put Jaber’s name forward along with other candidates, according to people familiar with the discussions, who asked not to be named as a final decision hasn’t been made. Other names being floated include Wassim Mansouri, the deputy and acting governor of the central bank, who has been credited with stabilizing the currency and boosting foreign currency reserves during his short tenure.
