Renault SA registered more vehicles across Europe than Stellantis NV for the first time in December, a month that began with the latter ousting Carlos Tavares as chief executive officer.
Renault sold 130,097 vehicles, beating out the 126,091 registered by the maker of Peugeot, Opel, Citroën and Fiat cars. Stellantis had outsold its archrival in every month since its formation in January 2021, when France’s PSA Group combined with Italian-American manufacturer Fiat Chrysler.
