LA Schools Wrecked by Fires Plead on GoFundMe for Help to Reopen
- Schools say they can’t wait on insurance and government aid
- Officials are rushing find new space and retain students
Students, teachers and parents across Los Angeles are coping with the destruction from catastrophic wildfires by sharing food, hugs and tears. But, what school officials say they need more than anything else is cash to pay for new places to learn.
They are turning to crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe to quickly raise money to rent new space, fund clean up, and hire new teachers — all necessary to get kids back at school in-person.
