Adding an 18th game to the NFL regular season is the “logical” next step, Commissioner Roger Goodell said in an interview with Bloomberg Television.

The league, which is the midst of its playoffs, had a 16-game schedule for more than four decades before moving to 17 games in 2021. Extending the regular season hasn’t increased injuries as many feared, according to Goodell. The number of games lost to players getting hurt has actually declined, thanks to changes to training and game rules, he said.
