Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced Friday he will appoint his lieutenant governor, Jon Husted, to replace Vice President-elect JD Vance in the US Senate.
Husted will take over for Vance, who was elected to the Senate in 2022 but selected to be Donald Trump’s vice president last year. The appointment runs through 2026, when a special election will be held for the final two years of Vance’s term.
