The Scottish Highlands have been warmer than the beaches of the Mediterranean this week.

Temperatures at Cassley in northern Scotland hit 15.7C (60.3F) on Tuesday. That’s more than 10C above long-term average highs for the region and set a new single-day record for the highest temperature in the UK on Jan. 14, according to preliminary Met Office data.
