EU’s Green Push Needs Changes to Protect Carmakers, Lobby Says

The European Union should adapt its landmark decarbonization road map because it risks hurting the competitiveness of its carmakers, according to the region’s main auto lobby.
The EU’s Green Deal — unveiled five years ago as a cornerstone of potential growth — needs a “reality check,” the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association said Thursday. The group also demanded more fiscal support to bolster electric-vehicle sales and clarity on emissions reduction targets for 2025 and beyond.
