Defense tech startup Anduril Industries Inc. has selected Ohio as the location of a sprawling new manufacturing facility that will produce tens of thousands of autonomous systems and weapons annually, part of a plan to become a key provider of drones and other technology for the US military.
The $14 billion California company said Thursday that after a yearlong national search, it will build the factory on a 5-acre site in Columbus, Ohio. The facility, called Arsenal-1, will mass produce aerial and maritime drones, sensors and other products. The effort is a major step toward Anduril’s long-held ambition to produce affordable autonomous weapons at scale at one mega-facility.
