Massachusetts officials are planning to inject $8 billion into advancing improvement projects for the state’s aging roads, bridges and public transit.

Governor Maura Healey unveiled a plan Tuesday to invest the infrastructure funding over the next decade. Some of the funds will go into filling in the budget gap for the cash-strapped Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority that runs the Boston subway.
