LA Fire Crews Make Strides in Fighting Blazes as Toll Climbs
- Kenneth blaze that flared Thursday is about 35% contained
- Threats are likely to rise again early next week as winds rise

Firefighters are making some progress on controlling the deadly blazes that have scorched Los Angeles, as the toll of destruction rises with entire neighborhoods reduced to ash.
Four out of the five major fires roaring across the region showed some signs of being contained as of early Friday. The Kenneth Fire that broke out and expanded rapidly on Thursday is now about 35% in check. However, the largest blazes are still burning largely uncontrolled.
