Two Dead in Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race After Being Struck by Sail Booms

Two sailors died after being struck by sail booms in separate incidents during the annual Sydney to Hobart yacht race as crews grappled with treacherous conditions across the notorious Bass Strait.

The fatalities occurred overnight on the Flying Fish Arctos and Bowline vessels after the competition started on Boxing Day, organizers and the police said.
