Donald Trump said the US federal government will shut down if the debt ceiling is not eliminated or extended, ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl said in a postBloomberg Terminal on X, citing comments from a conversation with the president-elect.

“If we don’t get it, then we’re going to have a shutdown, but it’ll be a Biden shutdown, because shutdowns only inure to the person who’s president,” Trump told ABC.
