Israel’s foreign minister has ordered the closure of the country’s embassy in Dublin, citing the Irish government’s “extreme anti-Israel policies.”

Gideon Sa’ar, who was appointed as head of Israeli foreign affairs last month, pointed to Ireland’s decision to back South-African legal action at the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of genocide. He also referenced Ireland’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state earlier this year, which prompted Israel to recall its ambassador.
