Jane Street Group’s push to expand in downtown Manhattan has its landlord, Brookfield Asset Management Ltd., considering an unconventional option: giving up some of its own space.
Jane Street is currently seeking more room at its current location at Brookfield’s 250 Vesey St., where the landlord has also has offices, according to people familiar with the matter who asked not to be named citing private discussions. The option would help keep Jane Street, which has become a major market-making firm in recent years, at the building.
