Brazilian lawmakers approved a plan to develop the country’s space industry, providing embattled President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva with a victory as he faces setbacks to his personal and political health.
Senators on Thursday voted to create a state-owned company to provide services for rocket launches, a plan that Brazil’s military argues will increase dramatically the amount of revenue generated by space missions.
