Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi defended an initiative to amend the constitution, a move opposition leaders have warned he could use to extend his term in office.
Tshisekedi has denied the charge, and plans to convene a committee of experts to recommend what changes should be made next year. He pointed to the nearly five-month period between the time he began his second term in January and the installation of his cabinet as a failure of the current system.
