It’s been 43 years since Major League Baseball’s most high-profile teams have faced off in the World Series. And the decades of the pent-up demand in Los Angeles and New York has ticket prices soaring to record highs.
The average price for the series between the Yankees and Dodgers, which begins Friday in Los Angeles, has more than doubled from last year to $1,700, according to TickPick, a secondary market ticket website. That’s more expensive than the previous high in 2016, when the Chicago Cubs made their first World Series appearance since 1945.
