Chinese President Xi Jinping told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi the two countries should strengthen ties and properly manage differences during their first bilateral meeting since 2022, after the two countries eased a four-year border stalemate earlier this week.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in the Russian city of Kazan on Wednesday, state-run China Central Television reported. Xi said it is in the fundamental interests for both China and India to correctly grasp the historical trend and the development direction of their relations, according to CCTV.
