Defense contractor RTX Corp. agreed to pay a $200 million fine to settle US government allegations that it violated exports controls by transferring sensitive technology to adversaries such as China, Russia and Iran.

The settlement, announced Friday by the State Department, came after RTX voluntarily reported the violations, which it said stemmed from the improper classification of defense articles under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, or ITAR.
