The Hezbollah commander Israel targeted in Beirut to avenge a recent rocket attack was also wanted by the US for a bombing in the same city more than 40 years ago.

The Israeli army said Fuad Shukr was killed in an airstrike Tuesday night because he was behind the attack in the Golan Heights that killed 12 youths over the weekend.
