The US presidential campaign has been turned upside down over the past few weeks, with an assassination attempt on Donald Trump and then President Joe Biden’s decision to bow out in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris. Through it all, a certain far-right Republican megadonor has worked hard to keep some of the spotlight on himself, reaffirming his publicly proclaimed fealty to Trump after Biden was effectively forced out by the media and his quaking fellow Democrats.
