Brian Armstrong, the chief executive officer of crypto exchange Coinbase Global Inc., was removed last week from the Giving Pledge, a promise by billionaires to donate the majority of their wealth to charity in their lifetimes or wills.
Armstrong in 2018 became the first crypto titan to join the global group, which was founded by Bill Gates, Melinda French Gates and Warren Buffett as a way to get fellow billionaires to commit to give their money away.
