Paris faces severe travel disruptions at its airports as workers prepare to go on strike on July 17, little over a week before the start of the Summer Olympic Games.

Five different unions handed in separate strike notices for the one-day stoppage, with Force Ouvriere planning a 24-hour strike starting on July 17 at 5 am, according to a joint statement. Union members will decide on that day whether to extend the strike, a spokesman said, as workers press for bigger bonuses and 1,000 new hires.
