The Swiss National Bank has decided to continue its pilot of issuing of a wholesale central-bank digital currency for at least two more years, Governing Board member Antoine Martin said.

The project, which kicked off last December and was scheduled to end June 30, was “very successful,” he said on Thursday after the SNB’s interest-rate decision in Zurich. It will therefore also be broadened, he added.
