National Health Service waiting lists fell for a fifth month in England, but the number of patients waiting for treatment still remains higher than when Prime Minister Rishi Sunak promised to reduce it.
Some 7.54 million patients were on the waiting list in February, down from 7.58 million the previous month, NHS England said Thursday. But that’s still higher than in January 2023, when Sunak made cutting NHS waiting lists one of his five core pledges to voters. Then, waiting lists were at about 7.2 million.
