UK trading platforms are broadening access for retail investors to newly issued gilts, looking to tap into bourgeoning demand for the securities.
The private-sector initiative, which allows clients to indirectly participate in new gilt sales from the Debt Management Office, brings the UK a step closer to major economies that sell bonds directly to the public, including the US Treasury.
