Half of UK Local Councils Fear Bankruptcy in Coming Years

UK town halls are planning to slash funding for parks, leisure and arts with over half expecting to go bankrupt in the coming years, a survey of senior council figures found.
The Local Government Information Unit said almost a tenth of authorities reported they will likely to go bust in the next financial year, as executives sign off budgets including swathes of cuts. Some 51% said they are likely to go bankrupt during the next parliamentary term.
