President Joe Biden’s administration is cutting their own blackout period on economic news to 30 minutes, setting the stage for his allies to hit the airwaves sooner to publicly discuss data on inflation, jobs and other indicators.

A rule put in place in 1985 kept White House officials from weighing in on data for an hour, a practice intended to allow markets time to digest the information before government officials offer a rosy spin.
