Australian writer Yang Hengjun has received a suspended death sentence in China, Foreign Minister Penny Wong said, in a major blow to ties between the two nations which had been improving over the past 18 months.
Yang was sentenced on Monday after being found guilty of espionage in a Beijing court, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters.
