Taiwan blasted China’s claims that the island’s election was an internal affair for President Xi Jinping’s government as ridiculous, after Beijing criticized the democratic vote.
“China issued one erroneous comment after another last night,” Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement Sunday. “The Taiwanese people are determined to uphold democratic values.”
