The UK is proposing relaxing the labeling rules for free-range eggs in a bid to minimize costs for farmers during bird-flu outbreaks.

The proposed changes would allow eggs to retain their free-range label, even if chickens are moved inside for longer than 16 weeks to prevent the spread of disease. Currently, they must be labeled barn eggs after that period inside.
