Norman Lear, the US television producer who used characters like the lovable bigot Archie Bunker to address racism, feminism, homosexuality and other social issues in the 1970s hit shows All in the Family and Maude, has died. He was 101.
Lear died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles, according to the New York Times, quoting Lara Bergthold, a family spokeswoman. No cause was given.
