European Union finance ministers are planning meet for dinner on Dec. 7 to progress toward a deal on the review of the fiscal rules as the old framework will kick in from January, according to people familiar with the matter.

Officials will gather after their scheduled meeting in the euro-area format, and ahead of their planned meeting the following day where they will try and reach an agreement on the legislative proposal that controls public expenditure in the bloc, said the people, who declined to be identified because the plans are private.
