Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt is considering letting tax-free individual savings accounts hold fractional shares, part of efforts to boost investing in the stock market.

Hunt is due to announce a consultation on the idea at the Autumn Statement next week, according to a person familiar with the matter. Hunt is also considering other changes to ISA rules as the Treasury tries to make them more attractive.
