Oil Majors Apply for Norway Offshore Wind Amid Sector Crisis

Equinor ASA, BP Plc and Shell Plc were among companies that applied to take part in an auction for Norway’s first fixed-based offshore wind park, even as soaring costs throw into doubt the viability of the country’s 30 gigawatt wind ambitions.

“In spite of significant cost increases in the global offshore wind industry recently, there are some strong companies applying to take part for the bidding round for Southern North Sea II,” Petroleum and Energy Minister Terje Aasland said in a statement Wednesday.
