UK Regulator Widens Access to Breast Cancer Drug for Prevention

A daily pill to prevent breast cancer was cleared for use by the National Health Service, ushering a preventive approach for older women who are most at risk.

The drug, called anastrozole, isn’t new: it has been available for years as a breast-cancer treatment and was already recommended for prevention by the country’s health-cost regulator, but uptake was limited because it wasn’t licensed for this use.
