Saleemul Huq was a pre-eminent climate scientist and a champion for the climate vulnerable.

Born in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1952, he spent most of his life in Bangladesh. He became the director of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development, a lead author on the third, fourth and fifth assessment reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and a professor at the Independent University, Bangladesh.
