Newly minted House Speaker Mike Johnson met Thursday with President Joe Biden as the White House pushed Republican lawmakers to act quickly on their emergency requests for additional foreign aid and disaster recovery spending.
Johnson along with members of congressional leadership and committee chairmen discussed the asks with national security adviser Jake Sullivan, budget director Shalanda Young, and Shuwanza Goff, who leads the White House’s outreach to Capitol Hill, according to a person familiar who spoke about the meeting on condition of anonymity.
