An import ban on certain Apple Watch models would begin on Christmas Day if the Biden administration declines to veto a US trade agency’s order over patented technology that measures the amount of oxygen in a user’s blood.

Apple Inc.'s devices infringe a pair of patents owned by Masimo Corp. for technology that uses light sensors in at least four versions of Apple’s watches, according to an order issued by the US International Trade Commission. Apple shares declined almost 1% in late trading after the decision. Masimo climbed as much as 18% after the notice posted Thursday on the agency’s website.
