Venezuela’s public prosecutors office says it will probe the opposition’s presidential primary after accusations of fraud by President Nicolás Maduro’s government.
Public Prosecutor Tarek William Saab, a Maduro ally, said he appointed two officials to investigate the process. Jesús María Casal, the head of the committee that organized the vote, and his deputy Mildred Camero will be called to testify, among others, Saab told reporters in Caracas on Wednesday.
