China State Spending Falls at Slower Pace Amid Stimulus Focus

China’s government spending declined at a slower pace in the first nine months of the year as authorities ramped up fiscal stimulus to inject momentum into the economy.
Total expenditure fell 2.4% to 26.43 trillion yuan ($3.6 trillion) in the year through September compared to the same period in 2022, according to Bloomberg calculations based on data released by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday. That compared with a 4% contraction in the first eight months.
