French President Emmanuel Macron told Kosovo to return to the negotiating table with neighboring Serbia or risk losing an offer for visa-free travel to the European Union.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said a day earlier that EU-mediated talks with Serbia can’t move forward unless Belgrade faces consequences for a deadly shootout last month between Serb militants and Kosovo police in the north of the country. The French leader said a halt to talks on mending relations would affect a plan approved by the European Parliament in April for visa-free travel from early next year to Kosovars.
