California Leads and Texas Lags in Going Electric

Western US states are leading the transition to electric vehicles, according to an analysis by BloombergNEF.

California led the pack with electric models accounting for 25% of new car sales from January through June, almost three times the national average, according to an analysisBloomberg Terminal of 19 states where EV data was readily available. Washington ranked second with EVs making up 18% of new car sales, followed by Oregon (17%), Hawaii (15%) and Nevada (14%). Once a state tops 10% adoption, EV sales begin to significantly accelerate, according to BloombergNEF.
